Before your phone starts recording
A few marks. A useful dataset.
You will draw three short codes by tilting your phone. We record motion sensors, orientation, pen events, timing, geolocation (if you allow it), battery and network information during this exercise. We also save your strokes, drawing images, device/browser details and calibration results.
Your submissions are stored privately with your course identity for assessment. We will use the recordings anonymously for later course exercises and research. Raw location and device details can be identifying; instructors must remove identifying details before sharing data for those uses. Other students cannot view your drawings or codes here.
Next week, students will build decoders for other people's sensor streams. This week, draw each code clearly. Each drawing will be checked offline by OCR. There is no live OCR or game score. Legible is enough; perfect handwriting is unnecessary.
Do this part yourself, without AI agents. Agent use may receive a small penalty after instructor review. We collect input timing and sensor consistency signals for offline review only; they never block you automatically.
Practise and redraw freely. Upload all three drawings together. You get three submissions in total: one initial submission and two revisions. Only the latest is used for assessment; earlier attempts remain in the private dataset.
Submit by Monday 26 October 2026, 23:59 IST. A two-minute upload grace period covers slow networks.
No sensors start before you agree. You can stop recording at any time. If you do not agree, contact the teaching team for an alternative.
Set up your pen
Move slowly for thicker ink. Keep your phone in the same orientation. Recenter if the pen drifts.
